Donna

Aftercare Coordinator

 

Donna is a Registered Nurse with extensive Perianesthesia nursing experience. She is also a LAP-BAND® patient. As the Patient Care Coordinator, Donna assists our patients in obtaining information about the LAP-BAND®. She coordinates the aftercare program, organizes the monthly support group, writes and publishes the patient newsletter, and assists Dr. Fusco with Band adjustments (fills). She is certified Support Group and Back on Track facilitator.

Kathy

Patient Insurance and Financial Advocate

 

Kathy specializes in helping patients negotiate the process of obtaining insurance approval for the lap-band. She also works with patients to develop self-funding options. Kathy is a successful LifeShape patient herself. Because of her weight loss experience, Kathy is passionate about doing whatever possible to give patients the possibility of succeeding with a Lap-band.

Kerry

Office Coordinator

 

Kerry organizes the LifeShape patient information seminars. She schedules band adjustments and manages the LifeShape Optifast program. Kerry has been with LifeShape since the early years of the program . She can be reached at 321-728-7553.

Kristine

Registered Dietitian

 

Kristine Van Workum, RD, CSSD, LDN has been working as a dietitian since 2000, and is a member of the American Dietetic Association as well as the Florida Dietetic Association and the Space Coast Dietetic Association. She holds certifications in adult weight management and sports nutrition, and she also specializes in nutrition counseling for children, adolescents and adults with disordered eating. Kristine graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. She has worked in numerous health care and community settings providing nutrition education for a large variety of medical conditions. She formerly supported the Bariatric program at the Johns Hopkins Bayside Medical Center. Kristine opened Brevard Nutrition, Inc. after moving to Florida in 2009 and became a member of the LifeShape team soon after. She is here to help support and guide LifeShape patients toward a lifetime of healthy eating habits and mindful eating.

Christie

Lead Certified Personal Trainer

 

Christie is a veteran to personal training who has helped more than over a thousand clients make a positive and healthy lifestyle change. As the Senior Trainer in LifeShape Fitness Center, she sees patients for a pre-operative evaluation before their LapBand surgery. At this visit Christie helps develop a plan to increase activity as part of the healthy lifestyle changes the patient will make. All LifeShape patients are also are enrolled in a series of postoperative visits to help plan our patient's long term activity plan. Christie organizes the group exercise classes, writes for our newsletter, and assists with our walking program. Christie is also available to work one-on-one with clients on an ongoing basis at our private fitness center.

Rita RNFA

Registered Nurse First Assistant

 

Rita has more than 20 years of OR experience and is an important part of the advanced laparoscopic team. Dr. Fusco feels a qualified nurse first assistant greatly enhances the quality and efficiency of the LAP-BAND® surgical procedure. Dr. Fusco has utilized Rita as his primary first assistant since January 2000. Rita also preforms approximately 25% of the band adjustments.

Lucy

Dysfunctional Eating Specialist

 

Lucy Lauer, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 26 years experience as a Registered Dietitian. She specializes in helping people overcome emotional eating and other types of disordered, unconscious eating habits to achieve a healthier life and relationship with food. Lucy is in private practice in Indialantic, Florida.

Sue RN

Office Nurse

 

Sue is a registered nurse with over fifteen years of experience in the surgical area. She serves as Dr. Fusco's primary office nurse for his Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery practice. Sue handles patient scheduling, prescription refills, and questions or concerns in the immediate postoperative period.

Pam

Office Secretary

 

Pam is Dr. Fusco's office secretary. She schedules office appointments and diagnostic tests. She also assists patients with documentation for work or insurance.

Ashley

Patient and Provider Relations, Certified Yoga Instructor

 

Ashley is a Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT 200) in the Kripalu tradition. She currently teaches Foundation Beginners Flow yoga classes at LifeShape Fitness focusing on strength, flexibility and relaxation with connection to the mind-body-spirit. She is Founder and Owner of Sun Yoga in Indian Harbour Beach.

Certified Personal Trainer

 

Maria is a Certified Personal Trainer, Hip Hop Aerobics and Cardio Kickboxing Instructor. She enjoys assisting her clients in their journey to a happier and healthier lifestyle. By combining high energy aerobic sessions and strength training to obtain well-rounded results, her ultimate goal is to make sure her clients feels comfortable “in the skin they are in”. Currently, she is in training to enter as a competitor in figure & bodybuilding competitions.

Certified Personal Trainer

Paul is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer with over 15 years experience in the fitness industry. With a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and a desire to keep up on current fitness trends and research, he takes a scientific approach in designing custom-tailored programs for his clients. He prides himself in the variety of exercises in workouts he employs, and knows the importance of being able to keep body guessing so adaptation and progress continue. Paul is available for one-on-one training and is also a Group Class instructor.

Beth

Certified Personal Trainer & Instructor

Beth is a USATF Level 2 Certified Endurance Coach as well as a Certified Combine 360 Personal Trainer. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor Degree in Exercise Physiology. She has participated and developed elderly adult and youth programs throughout the community. Currently she is the Cross Country and Distance Track Head Coach for Satellite High School. She is excited to help her clients find their motivation to develop and reach their own unique goals; she states, “Forget what lies behind and instead stare forward to what lies ahead, pressing towards goals far greater then we could ever think or imagine, and remembering that if it was easy it wouldn’t be worth it!” She is available for one-on-one training and is also a group class instructor.

Research Nurse

 

Grace is the LifeShape certified research nurse. She has greater than twenty years of clinical research experience. LifeShape is has been involved in numerous research projects including the BIB, APEX, and HERO studies.

Ginger

Data Manager

 

At LifeShape we feel it is very important to keep very close track of both our weight loss data, and our complication data. We feel this is both important so that we can continually make changes to our program so as to maximize our weight loss results and minimize the risk of surgery. Ginger is instrumental in keeping track of our data. She also assists in producing the patient support newsletter.
